I design and build AI and cloud platforms, and lead the teams that ship them.
I'm an AWS-certified Solutions Architect and Engineering Lead with 18 years in software. I lead architecture and engineering for New Zealand's land registry platform at LINZ, and run TuncLab, where I build generative AI and SaaS products. My focus now is taking GenAI from idea to production — RAG, LLM applications, and the cloud architecture underneath.

About
I started my career in Colombo, building billing, travel and carrier-grade telecom platforms — five of those years at Intel, where I went from engineer to tech lead on systems like an OpenStack API gateway and a Diameter charging broker.
In 2015 I moved to Wellington. I worked as a technical consultant on ACC's claims system, then spent four years as Practice Lead at Digital Transformation Limited, leading architecture and delivery on projects from $500K to $10M.
Since 2020 I've been Software Engineering Lead at Land Information New Zealand, leading the search and spatial modules of Landonline — the platform New Zealand uses to search, order and lodge land records. I set the architecture, coach the team, and still work hands-on across APIs, infrastructure and frontend.
Alongside that I run TuncLab, an independent consultancy where I deliver cloud and GenAI architecture for clients and build my own products, like Greezmate and Jarvis.
I like player-coach roles: designing the system, building parts of it, and growing the people around it.

Software Engineering Lead · Land Information New Zealand (LINZ)
NZ's government agency for property and location information.
- Technical lead and architect for the search and spatial modules of the ~NZ$50M Survey and Titles Enhanced Program (STEP), from concept to production.
- Designed the GIS solution architecture from the ground up — performance, land-registry compliance, complex geospatial needs.
- Redesigned the Search and Product Ordering architecture, cutting customer complaints and manual order processing by 85%.
- Lifted engineering culture and practice for 15+ engineers; the team tracks DORA metrics.

- Customers search and order titles, surveys and instruments on an interactive map with aerial imagery. Licensed surveyors capture and lodge survey datasets.

- Replaced a legacy desktop system with a modern web platform, with a much better spatial search experience and 85% less manual order processing.

Kiosk and business-automation platform for a national trailer-hire retailer.
